Mallets

A rubber mallet, also called a mallet hammer or rubber hammer, is used in woodwork to hammer wooden pieces into place, drive chisels into wood and knock in dowels. The benefit of using a rubber mallet instead of a metal hammer is that mallets do not damage the striking end of chisels, and provide a softened strike to prevent ruining the striking surface.
