Easy-Melt is a high grade bonding bitumen, supplied in easy to handle 10kg shrink wrapped blocks. Easy-Melt combines the benefits of a high quality bonding bitumen, with the greater efficiency, safer handling and reduced waste that come from this convenient package. Easy-Melt bitumen is simple to use, as the blocks are just broken into pieces and placed straight into the bitumen boiler, including the polyethylene wrapper ,there is no packaging to dispose of.

Application
Roofing felts should be applied in accordance with the requirements of BS 8217: 2005. The roof area to be covered must be dry and clean, free from dust, dirt, grease or any other material, which may impair adhesion. Structural repairs should be made where necessary. Prime any absorbent surfaces using IKOpro Quick Dry Bitumen Primer in accordance with the relevant application instructions. It is essential that the primer is allowed to thoroughly dry before hot bitumen is applied over it. On plain edge or tongue & groove timber boarded decks it is normal practice to fix the first layer of felt by nailing, not bitumen bonding. Easy-Melt Bonding Bitumen should be broken into small lumps, put into a bitumen boiler, and stirred to prevent local overheating. More should be added until there is sufficient molten adhesive for the work in hand and the bitumen attains its normal working temperature of 200 degrees. The use of a thermostatically controlled boiler is recommended to ensure the bitumen is not overheated.
